Email Messaging Encryption Technology

As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance data security ABNB Federal Credit Union is implementing email messaging encryption technology to increase the security of specific e-mails we send to you.

Our new e-mail encryption system is powered by a Proofpoint Protection Server and will be used by ABNB to e-mail you sensitive data, such as account or card numbers, member names and addresses, balance details, Social Security numbers, and any other non-public personal information.

There may be occasions where you receive an e-mail that does not appear to contain sensitive information, but is encrypted. This is caused by our system taking extra precautions to ensure sensitive or confidential information is properly protected.

Receiving Encrypted (Registered Envelope) E-mails
When ABNB sends you a Registered Envelope, you will receive an e-mail that includes the following:

E-mail message. The e-mail message indicates that you have been sent a secure, encrypted message in the form of a Registered Envelope.

Message_zdm.html file attachment. The e-mail message includes a file attachment named message_zdm.html. To view the content, simply double-click the file to display
the Registered Envelope in a Web browser.

The first time you receive a Registered Envelope, you will need to register with ABNB’s Proofpoint server to receive a password to open the encrypted content. After this initial registration, you will be able to use this password to open all future Registered Envelopes. (If you have previously registered with the ABNB Proofpoint Server, you can use your existing password to securely access encrypted e-mails from ABNB.)

Replying to Encrypted E-mails
This service also enables you to encrypt e-mails when you reply to an ABNB encrypted email. You should elect to reply securely when your reply contains account or card numbers, a member’s name and address, balance details, Social Security numbers, and any other non-public personal information. The ABNB Proofpoint Server is located at https://voltage-pp-0000.abnbfcu.org/.  When reading an encrypted e-mail from ABNB or replying securely to an encrypted e-mail you are working through that secure site.

Important Note
ABNB requests that you always reply securely to emails we send to you that have been encrypted because the email contains sensitive data. Doing so protects your personal information.  If you have any questions, please contact us at 523-5300.
